Australia is currently the third most popular destination for international students in the English-speaking world. For a country with a relatively small number of universities, Australia offers a truly world-class education and regularly features in global rankings. Eight Australian universities placed in the top 100 in the latest QS World University Rankings. Australia’s standard of living is amongst the highest in the world. International students are able to work part time while they study, allowing them to offset their living costs. There is also the possibility of scholarships, which can help to lower the cost of studying in Australia for international students.
Institutions will assess whether students meet the selection criteria set for proposed course of study. They will look at the level and content of the study student have completed in their home country.
Undergraduate courses require an Australian Senior School Certificate of Education (Year 12) or the overseas equivalent of Australian high school matriculation, such as three passes at GCE A Levels in appropriate subjects. Some courses may also have certain pre-requisite subjects. Postgraduate courses requires satisfactory completion of a first degree at undergraduate level. Confirmed research ability or relevant work experience may also be taken into consideration.
Student visa can be filed in two ways. Evisa (Electronic Visa) & Paper visa. Students have to pay Visa Application fee through Credit Card only (E-Lodgement) and VFS charges OR Paper visa student along with the Visa Application Fee should pay the VFS Charges.
Students need to submit Form 157A , Form 956, Form 1282, Passport Copy of Applicant (Biodata page, address page and any observation page [if applicable]) , Passport size 4 photographs, All Educational Documents of applicant along with IELTS Score Card, Declaration on affidavit from student , Documents of Employment (Previous work experience or if student is currently working somewhere. Please provide all documents), Statement of Purpose and Any supporting documents for the visa file.
Sponsor’s should submit Affidavit of Sponsorship from Sponsor , Photo ID Proof of Sponsor (Election ID, Ration Card, PAN Card or Driving license) , ITRs for last three Years and Evidence of Income.
Students should show funds according to the program, subclass & assessment level they have selected. And Living Expenses – 18,610 Per Annum, Overseas Student Health Cover 342 Per Annum and Travel Expenses 2,000.
Students need a sufficient level of English language proficiency and must meet minimum academic requirements to study in Australia. when applying for a student visa. Australian education institutions can only accept students with an appropriate level of English proficiency. Institutions set their own English language requirements and may have different IELTS entry levels for the proposed level of course than those required for a student visa.
Students find accommodation both on and off campus .Australia has a good standard of accommodation ranging from halls of residence, boarding schools, home stays and rented houses, apartments or rooms.
University accommodation : Most universities offer a variety of accommodation on or near to campus such as university apartments, residential colleges or halls of residence. Halls of Residence-cheaper and a popular option with full-time international students. Residential colleges-includes meals, library, computer access, sporting and social facilities. It is usually for full-time students and students are advised to apply early as these are usually high in demand.
Homestay : Students live with a local family during the course of study. Students are welcomed into the home and accepted as a member of the family, participating in all daily routines of the family. Inclusive of food and electricity. (Mon-Fri breakfast and dinner, Sat & Sun three meals)
Shared / Rental accommodation : : Students often share with fellow students and may have to provide their own furniture. Students usually advertise for room wanted or a room available in newspapers and notice boards on campus.
In order to work in Australia while a student they must have a student visa with work permission. Receiving the visa and work permission together saves both time and money. Students are allowed to begin working as soon as classes begin. Students studying in Australia under a student visa are allowed to work a maximum of 40 hours per fortnight during the term and unlimited hours when your course is not in session.
Australia continues to have demand for foreign workers, and students that have earned a degree in Australia have a special work visa category. There are also several other visa categories open to international students, and Australia has a very straightforward path to permanent residency using a points system .
